John was the youngest son of Frank and Espanola Whitfield, and younger brother to Charles Ray Whitfield, all of whom preceded him in death. Like his entire family John was born, raised and a lifelong resident of Houston, Texas. John graduated Cy-Fair High School and later became a successful business owner and entrepreneur, followed by a long career with United Airlines.
Eagerly awaiting him in heaven is his loving and devoted wife, Brenda Joyce Norwood Whitfield, with whom he shared 42 years of marriage, and went to be with the lord three short years before John.
John will be lovingly remembered by his two children, many grandchildren and countless other family and friends. Son, Jermaine Edward Whitfield, daughter-in-law Morgan Lewis Whitfield and granddaughter Amaya Whitfield of Atlanta, Georgia. Daughter, Nakia Whitfield Gilmore, son-in-law Ashton Gilmore and grandchildren Marcus Davis Gilmore, Dyson Gilmore, Hannah Gilmore and Owen Gilmore of Houston, Texas.
John will be dearly missed as he was exceedingly loved by all who knew him. John was always pleasant, wearing a smile and down for a good laugh. He had a knack for business and finding good deals, but is best known for his devotion to family, his marriage and the lord, and held deep convictions that will undoubtedly pass through his children and generations to come.
Never forgotten and Forever missed, we love you Dad.
