Jay honorably served his country as a combat veteran in the Vietnam War before continuing his life of service with the Houston Fire Department, where he rose to the rank of Captain. His career spanned an incredible 37 years, 1 month, and 29 days—a testament to his strength, leadership, and unwavering commitment to protecting others. He also held a degree in Fire Science, which he used to mentor and guide others in the field he loved.
Jay was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Linda Lacoure, his father, Johnie John Reneau, and his mother, Margie Langford Martin.
He is survived by his loving wife, Randa Tinker Reneau; his daughter, Kelly Reneau Miller; son-in-law, John Garrett Miller; and his cherished granddaughters, Chloe Jane, Sidney Grace, and Kirby Joy Miller. He is also survived by his son, Zachary Scott Reneau; his brothers, Jimmy Reneau and wife Beverly, and Joe Reneau and wife Lexie; and his brother-in-law, Kevin Tinker and wife Debbie. Jay leaves behind a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins throughout the Houston, Beaumont, and Livingston areas.
Jay’s legacy is one of bravery, kindness, and deep devotion to family and community. He will be remembered always with love and pride.
To honor Jay’s vibrant spirit, the family kindly encourages everyone attending the service to wear his favorite color—red—in celebration of his life.
