Johnny (John) Wayne Colvin, age 77, of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away at his home on February 6, 2015. John moved from Louisiana to Houston, Texas, at the age of 14. John always considered himself a Texan.
After over 25 years as an insurance agent, John retired in January of 2014.
John is preceded in death by his brother, Ken Colvin in 1999, his father, James Colvin in 2003 and his mother, Mildred Vyverman in 2005.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Colvin; his four children, Wayne Colvin and wife Diane; Craig Colvin and wife Kristie; Cyndi Kornegay and husband Brad; and Brooke Long and husband Scott, brother Larry Colvin and his wife Pat, seven grandchildren, Julie Colvin, Emily Colvin, Andrew Colvin, Clint Colvin, Shelby Colvin, Hudson Kornegay and Sterling Kornegay, niece Cathy Ethridge and newphew Landon Colvin.
A memorial service celebrating John’s life will be at Second Baptist, West Location, Williams House, 19449 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77094, on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at 1:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
