

Joseph Scott Gray was born on September 6, 1969, in Houston, Texas to Mary Jane Harrison Gray and Brayton Everett Gray who preceded him in death. Joseph was called home to the father's house on February 22, 2022, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He is also preceded in death by his sister Mitzi Helmer and brother-in-law Daniel Helmer. He is also preceded by his Grandmother Mary Virginia King MacLaughlin.
Joseph went by many titles in his family including Pops, Uncle Joe or Uncle Scott or Baby Love by his adoring wife. He is survived by his wife of 4 precious years Juanita E. Spencer-Gray and bonus children Maggie Robinson of Lakeland Florida and Russell Tino of Houston, Texas. He was an amazing father to his three children, son David Gray and wife Karra and their six children Skylar, Kiylee Alexis, his namesake Landon Joseph, and Penelope of Pasadena, Texas. Daughter Ashlee Gray and husband Daniel and their two children Kale and Aubrey of Pasadena, Texas. Daughter Halee Gray of Crosby Texas.
He is survived by his brother Michael MacLaughlin and wife Chela of Houston, Texas. Brother Patrick Embry of Porter, Texas. Brother Brady Gray and wife Molly of Houston, Mississippi. And Nieces and Nephews Brandi and her husband Carlos, Michael MacLaughlin, Miranda Embry, Eric Carter, Amanda Carter, Lauren Embry Holcombe and Brooke Embry. Great nieces and nephews Carlos, Brandon, Adrian, Taylor, Clayton and Wesley.
He is survived by former spouses and coparents Sharon and Tanya. They remained lifelong friends and raised amazing children together.
He is also survived by in-laws John, Phyliss and Bobby.
Joseph was baptized in July of 2011 and was a member of the Champions Community Church. He would attend service at Victory Christen Center. After purchasing a second home in Crystal Beach, Texas and he started attending Crystal Beach Community Church. He was diligent and honorable in his faith.
Joseph and his wife loved to travel and saw many amazing places. They spent the last year of his life living a fifty year marriage in one year.
Joseph was a hard working man that showed great loyalty to his company of EPI. He was employed for eight years as a plumber with his company. He had a vast knowledge of the plumbing industry spanning a career of 30 plus years.
Joseph loved and was loved by many surrounding him including his cousins, aunts, uncles, work family and many more. He enjoyed a beautiful and enriching life with his wife Juanita. He also enjoyed driving his truck and visiting the beach. He surrounded himself with family who will hold him dearly in their hearts.
Joseph is to be celebrated and commended for the many adversities he overcame to become the remarkable person he was. He is loved by many and will be missed by his family and friends. May he rest peacefully for everlasting eternity.
A celebration of life for Joseph will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A visitation will occur Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.
