On June 21, 1924 in Houston, Texas, Josephine, a beautiful girl was born to Joseph Collura & Francis Triola Collura. After graduating from Stephen F. Austin High School, she began her career as a secretary at Recordak Corporation in the M&M Building near the birthplace of Houston. During World War II she married Charles Reed Ivy a Navy B24 pilot and in 1947 gave birth to her first child. She postponed her career while raising three children as a stay at home mom. As the children grew she resumed work as secretary of St. Theresa Church where all three children attended school. Josephine was outgoing, lively, fun to be around and enjoyed gardening, dancing, bowling and golf. She later became executive secretary & bookkeeper at Cockrell Oil and retired as Ashley Avery’s secretary & bookkeeper.
Josephine passed away peacefully November 22, 2019. Services will be held at the Chapel of Angels at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery on December 7 at 11:00 am.
She is survived by daughter Charlye Jo Ivy, sons Haskell Eugene Ivy and Dennis Reed Ivy, granddaughter Emily Reed Ivy, nephews Carl Collura, Joseph C. Collura, niece Karen Collura Kaser, grandnephew Robert Ashton Collura, neice Jacqueline Ivy Reese, grandniece Sarah Reese Saphier and great grandnephew Gaines Reese Safier.
