Josephine "Josie" Peña

Josie was a loving spouse, mother, friend and supported a whole neighborhood of her children's friends, most of whom also called her mom. She had the biggest loving heart and helped anyone who needed it without hesitation. She was known as the “Tamale Queen” in her hometown of Port Arthur, TX for the delicious tamales she blessed us all with. To know her was to love her because she greeted everyone with a warm embracing hug.

A visitation for Josephine will be held Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 4136 Broadway St, Houston TX 77087 with a prayer service to begin at 7:00 pm. A funeral service will occur Friday, October 3, 2025 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm with the committal service to follow at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.

Note from the Family: Josie really appreciated flowers, but she always preferred plants because she said flowers die too quickly. In her honor, the family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, please purchase a plant and keep it in her honor to remember her by whatever type of plant you prefer, but her favorite was the beautiful Ivy.
