She was born in Portal, North Dakota, on June 18, 1925. She lived a full, wonderful, independent life for over 100 years.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Hilda Labbe; stepmother, Martha Labbe; father, Albert Labbe; and brothers, Gerald Labbe and Kenneth Labbe.
She leaves behind her son, Michael Dowling, and his wife, Denise, of Magnolia, TX. She has four grandchildren: Chase Dowling of Conroe, TX; Angela Dowling of Houston, TX; Rachel Kelley of Houston, TX; and Andrew Barazi of Minneapolis, MN.
She lived most of her life in Tacoma, WA, and worked as an office manager for Adams Law Firm in Tacoma, WA. Joyce moved to Texas in 2006 after retirement to be closer to her family.
Joyce was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend to many, who will miss her deeply. However, we take comfort in knowing we will see her again in glory.
There will be a small memorial service on January 17, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., at the home of her son, Michael Dowling, 34015 Conroe Huffsmith Rd., Magnolia, TX.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate remembrance donations to be made to the Montgomery County Food Bank.
