Joyce Ann Durrenberger went home to her Heavenly Father January 11, 2023. Joyce was born on April 10, 1937, to Julian T. Polk and Bertha Mae Wooding of Houston, Texas. She was the oldest of 4 children. Joyce married the love of her life Leslie (Lawrence) on March 11, 1954; they enjoyed 68 years and 10 months together. After he got out of the Navy they eventually settled in New Caney where they owned and operated Leslie's Feed and Hardware for many years while also raising 5 kids. Joyce loved being a mom but she thrived on being a mamaw.
Joyce was the epitome of love, having never met a baby that she couldn't quiet by simply holding and rocking them to sleep. While she met many strangers in her day, she ensured you never parted company as strangers. By the time she fed you and learned all about your life, you felt more like family than strangers.
Joyce lived a wonderful 85 years doing exactly what God made her to do. She was a lover and a nurturer. She was made to make you feel at home and nobody can remember a time where she was not a master at her craft.
Joyce is survived by her loving husband Leslie L. Durrenberger; sons, Leslie W Durrenberger and Donna, Dennis Durrenberger and Debbie, Jerry Durrenberger and Janet Contreras; daughters, Vicki Davis and Jack, Tammy Hall and Rick; brothers, Julian C Polk and Ann, John T Polk and Susan, and sister Carolyn Miers and Gilbert. She enjoyed many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren as well as many cousins and friends.
Serving as pallbearers are Joseph Senn, Shane Senn, Andrew Senn, Gavin Senn, Jeffery Durrenberger, Taylor Durrenberger, Wade Durrenberger and William Durrenberger.
