Juanita H. "Janie" Mejia

Juanita (Janie) H Mejia of Houston Texas. Passed away on August 22nd, 2023, at the age of 78 years old. She was born to parents Isabela and Maria M. Herrada in Houston Texas born on January 31st, 1945.

She graduated for Jeff Davis High School on the Northside of Houston in 1966. On December 3rd, 1967, she married Jesse R Mejia. The couple had two children, Jesus (Jesse) H Mejia and Adam A Mejia. She was a devoted wife, mother to her family and dedicated member of St. Alphonso Catholic Church for 42 years.

Janie could walk anywhere and light up the room with her smile and laughter. She loved dancing with her sons at events or family gatherings. Music was her love for dance. She loved traveling with family members and her favorite destination was San Antonio for its Fiestas. Meeting Janie was no stranger to anyone. She was a kind, loving and caring person who left her example for others to follow. Janie was incredibly proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. As her health declined, Janie fought hard because it was heart and her love to continue here with us. However, now she rests with the Lord and celebrates a new life.

Janie is survived by her Husband Jesse R. Mejia and her Son’s Jesus H. Mejia and Adam A. Mejia (Veronica Mejia), Brother, Henry Herrada, Santiago” Jim” (Mary Herrada), Raymond Herrada Sr. (Maria Herrada), David Herrada (Mary Herrada) Sister-in-Law Esther Hernandez and Brother-in-Law Jimmy Mejia. Grandchildren Valerie N. Mejia, Noah Mejia, Gregory J. Mejia, Sydney Mejia, Abigayle M. Mejia, Christina Mejia.

Juanita is preceded in death by her Parents Isabel Herrada and Maria M. Herrada, Her Sister, Stella Magallon and Brother, Alex Herrada and Great – granddaughter Belle Rose Castillo.

A visitation for Juanita will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 4136 BROADWAY ST, HOUSTON, TX 77087. A funeral mass will occur Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at St Alphonsus Catholic Church, 9217 E Avenue L, Houston, TX 77012. A committal will occur Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at South Park Cemetery, 1310 N Main St, Pearland, TX 77581.
