

The Obituary of Judith Elaine Moore Judith Elaine Moore, the daughter of the late Robert Lee Thompson and Edna Louise Thompson, was born June 6, 1952, in Akron, Ohio. Judy met her husband, Joseph D. Moore, in 1978 in Akron, Ohio. They married September 6, 1981, and to this union two children were born: Joslyn and Joseph. Judy was a resident of Houston, Texas for 35 years. She received a B.S. in Family Relations and Human Development from Ohio State University, as well as an M.S. in Early Childhood Education from Kent State University and an M.S. in Counseling from Texas Southern University. Judy was also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, initiated to the Epsilon Chapter at Ohio State University. In her professional career, she served as an educator for over 25 years in the Houston Independent School District. She taught students at both Windsor Village Elementary and Foerster Elementary. She inspired countless youth, not only in the classroom but also outside the classroom. During the latter portion of her career, she worked two jobs, teaching elementary school by day and working for Houston Community College (HCC) in the evening. At HCC, she taught English as a Second Language (ESL) and helped many adults achieve their General Education Development (GED) diplomas. Once retired from HISD, she continued to teach ESL classes at Neighborhood Centers Inc. Judy was a longstanding member of Brentwood Baptist Church. When able, she actively attended services each Sunday and was a faithful servant of the Lord. She spread the Gospel to others by sharing digital copies of sermons and by teaching Bible stories to her family. She was a loving and generous spirit who truly believed in the power of prayer. Judy was preceded in death by her sisters, Deborah Thompson and Joyce Thompson O’Hara. She leaves behind to carry her memory her husband of 36 years, Joseph D. Moore (Jimmy), Daughter, Joslyn Duncan (Jeffrey), Son, Joseph R. Moore (Jaszmann); two adorable grandchildren, Jeffrey Duncan II and Jacob Duncan; Brothers, Brian Thompson and Michael Thompson; Cousin, Stacy Pryor; Sister in Laws, Grace Ali (Oscar) and Carole Haynes; the Maxwell Family, the Nealy Family, the Pryor Family, the Shaw Family, the Ali Family and the Benn Family. She also leaves a host of close friends including; Bettye Kimble, Cecilia Chambers, Helen Pierson and “adopted” children; Jessica Brooks, Gabrielle Dirden, Jason Johnson, Larry James, Brent Archie and Johnathan Carter.
