From a young age, Julia displayed remarkable strength and resilience. At just 10 years old, after the sudden passing of her father, she began selling candles to help support her family. This early sense of responsibility and determination shaped her life, fostering a strong work ethic and a deep love for helping others.
On February 12, 1957, Julia married Manuel Guardiola, with whom she built a beautiful family of eight. Her devotion to her family was unparalleled. Determined to provide for her loved ones, Julia learned to drive and entered the workforce, balancing the demands of a growing household with grace.
In the United States, one of Julia’s first jobs was at Goldblatt’s department store in Indiana. Later, after relocating to Houston, she worked at Heights Hospital and eventually as a caregiver and housekeeper in private homes. Julia’s kindness and nurturing spirit left a lasting impression on the children she cared for, many of whom continued to keep in touch with her well into adulthood.
Julia’s greatest joy in life was raising her children. Her love, selflessness, and unwavering commitment ensured they always felt cherished. She also found fulfillment in her passions for cooking, needlework, sewing, and competitive games, hobbies she lovingly shared with her family, leaving a legacy of creativity and connection.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Manuel Guardiola; her sons, Roberto Felipe Guardiola and Manuel Jr. Guardiola; her great-grandson, Carson Road Guardiola; and her brother, David Fernandez Jr.
Julia’s memory will be forever cherished by her surviving children: Irma Yolanda Alvarez, Angel Roberto Guardiola, Maria Rita Guardiola, Francisco Javier Guardiola, Dora Elia Teamer, Armando Guardiola, and Linda Guardiola. She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, all of whom carry her love and lessons in their hearts.
