

Larry Joe Moore, a beloved and cherished individual, passed away on December 31, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on November 3, 1948, in San Antonio, Texas, Larry was known for his faithful, gentle, and generous nature. He was a kind-hearted, selfless, and thoughtful man, admired for his honesty, humor, and wisdom.
Larry graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1966 and attended Texas State University. He later left academia to pursue a career with the railroad. He began his career with Missouri Pacific, became an engineer with Southern Pacific, and eventually retired from Union Pacific. Larry was a significant participant in railroad retirement and was an inactive Mason.
His personal life was marked by three marriages, first to Kay Hunt, with whom he had one daughter, Sara. He later married Darnell Myers and Debora Best. Larry's greatest devotion was to his daughter and granddaughters. An animal lover, he was also a devoted Houston sports fan, especially of the Astros and Texans, and had a fondness for Chick-fil-A.
Larry was actively involved in his community, attending church every Sunday. He enjoyed traveling and had a deep love for history. His kind and generous spirit, along with his easy-going nature and dry sense of humor, left a lasting legacy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fulton and Myrle Moore; uncles Clyde Johnson and Harold Johnson; stepson James Cox; former wife Kay Hunt Moore; cousin Bruce Johnson; and his companion dog, Dakota.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Sara Lewis, and son-in-law, Richard Lewis Jr.; granddaughters Joey, Anzley, and Ricki Lewis; cousin Marilyn Willmon and her husband Denny; former wives Darnell Myers and Debra Best; and his companion dog, Mia.
