Leonard Johnson

He was a man who lived life on his own terms. Those terms included loving his family unconditionally, working hard and living independently, being loyal to his friends, and sharing whatever he could when others called on him.

Leonard Johnson was born on September 9th, 1942 in Houston, Texas to Nicholas and Helen Johnson as their first son. He attended public schools in Houston and graduated from Kashmere Gardens High School. Shortly after graduating from high school, Leonard married Cora Watters and to that union an adorable son, Nicholas Jerod Johnson, was born. Leonard is also the proud father of a second son, John Paige.

In 1966, Leonard enlisted in the United States Army where he honorably served until 1972.

Leonard shared many happy years with the love of his life, Beverly Brewer, until she was called home a few short years ago.

Leonard is preceded in death by his soulmate, Beverly Brewer; his parents, Nicholas and Helen Johnson; three sisters, Marjorie Howard, Eda Sophia Green and Delores Judy Powell; two brothers Larry Johnson and Ronald Johnson; One sister-in-law, LeVera Johnson; One brother-in-law, Joseph Powell; two nieces, Beverly Powell and Joann Ferguson; two nephews, Timothy Cooper and Richard Harris.

He leaves a loving family to celebrate his homegoing: Sons, Nicholas Johnson and John Paige (Camilla); one grandson, Nicholas Jerod Johnson, Jr., two granddaughters, Karlie Paige and Kassidy Paige; one brother, Donald Johnson (Alice) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at Faithwalk Church , Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 11am ,9210 Kelburn Dr, Houston, TX 77016; visitation will occur from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Committal service will be located at Houston National Cemetery Monday, November 6, 2023 at 9:00 AM , 10401 Veterans Memorial, Houston, TX
