At the age of 10 Lois and her family moved to Texas. She began her working career as a Candy Striper at St. Joseph's Hospital. She married and had two daughters Liz and Stephanie. Lois opened a company in 1983 and she worked until she retired at the age of 69. Lois was a licensed Customs Broker; she was a member of several Broker Associations in the International Trade Industry. She had a passion for fishing, she enjoyed going to casinos and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Lois is survived by daughter Liz Hoffmeyer (Steven); and daughter Stephanie Mitchell; brother Clayton Thornton (Marilyn) and brother-in-law Carl LaBorde; grandchildren Mason Hoffmeyer, Danielle Hoffmeyer, Makenzie Hoffmeyer, John Mitchell, Shane Mitchell.
She was preceded in death by son-in-law Mike Mitchell; father Chester Thornton and mother Lucille Thornton; sister Bonnie LaBorde.
A visitation for Lois will be held Sunday, August 16, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will occur Monday, August 17, 2020 from 10:00 AM. A committal service will occur Monday, August 17, 2020 from 11:00 AM at Brookside Memorial Park.
