Louis Medellin Garcia

Louis Medellin Garcia, 92 years of age from Houston, Texas passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024. Louis was married to his loving wife of 67 years, Leonor E. Garcia. As a proud American, Louis served honorably in the United States Army as a Sergeant. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for National Defense Service and the Army Good Conduct medal while stationed in Germany during his time in the military. Louis was also a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 803. For 26 years Louis worked for the City of Houston. Although only having a third-grade education he had attended Texas A&M University for extensive training for the City of Houston. He often referred to himself as a graduate of Texas A&M University. After his retirement, Louis worked at St. Joseph Hospital and Mercy Nursing Home. During his free time, he enjoyed gardening and fishing. Louis often said he was a jack of all trades and a master of none. Louis fought valiantly and bravely, however succumbed to his heart illness and entered into eternal life peacefully. Louis will be remembered as a kind and generous person who is loved very much by his family and will be sorely missed.

Louis is preceded in death by his son Louis Elias Garcia, father Viviano Garcia, mother Petra Medellin Garcia Orozco, brothers Simon Garcia, Dario Garcia, Santos Garcia, Fred Garcia, Martin Garcia, Larry Garcia, and sister Maria Garcia Moreno.

He is survived by his beloved wife Leonor E. Garcia, and Children, Elizabeth Ann Garcia-Lerma, Eloise Garcia, and Elvira G. Ontiveros (Rudy). Brother Jose Maria Orozco, and wife Sharon, Sister in law, Josie Hernandez, Host of nieces and nephews and great neighbors, Grandchildren, Damean Ernest DeLeon (Lisa), Gina Renee' Bueno (Eddie), Michael Rene Garcia, Eric Elias Garcia, (Kristal), Raquel Dominic Simmons (Bobby), Erica Michelle Ramirez (Michael), Louis Anthony Ontiveros (Jared Yetseani), 14 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.

A visitation for Louis will be held Thursday, February 29, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 2516 Navigation Blvd., Houston, TX 77003. A rosary service will occur Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 7:00 pm, 2516 Navigation Blvd, Houston, Texas 77003. A visitation will occur Friday, March 1, 2024, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Our Lady of Sorrows, 3006 Kashmere St., Houston, TX 77026. A funeral mass will occur Friday, March 1, 2024, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 3006 Kashmere St, Houston, TX 77026. A committal service will occur Friday, March 1, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.

Serving as pallbearers are Jose Maria Orozco, Louis Anthony Ontiveros, Damean Ernest DeLeon, Michael Rene Garcia, Eric Elias Garcia, Joe Garcia, Jose Moreno Jr., Martin L. Garcia, and Ricky Garcia.
