Louise Jane Pearson Nichols slipped peacefully into the loving arms of her Savior Jesus on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Nichols, Sr., of sixty-one years.
Louise was born on February 12, 1929 to Gladys Fuqua and Gary Pinkney Pearson in Anderson, Texas. She followed her brother, Gary Pinkney, Jr. and her sister, Joyce. Very soon after her birth, the family moved to Navasota where she lived until she graduated from high school. Louise graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design in May, 1950. She and Earl met in college and they married on August 19, 1950 at First Baptist Church, Navasota.
Louise was a homemaker, having given birth to Dianne and Earl, Jr. She was an active member of the local church in whatever city they lived, from Tyler, Mobile, AL, Dallas, Houston, and Jackson, MS. She and Earl were charter members of Tallowood Baptist Church in 1961. She returned to Tallowood to worship the last six years of her life.
Earl and Louise moved to Parkway Place Independent Retirement Community in 2009 where she lived until very recently. While living there she was very active in the card making class, Bible study groups, water aerobics, Vespers on Sunday afternoons, and also served as a greeter, welcoming new residents.
Louise is survived by her daughter, Dianne Lami and husband, Bill, grandsons, Philip and Joseph; her son, Earl, Jr. and his wife, Janet, and their daughters, Meredith Parkman, her husband, Wiley, and their three children, Joel, Travis and Sarah Jane, and daughter, Kara. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Pearson, her two nephews, Gary and Jim, and her niece, Mary Bain, and her cousin, Nell Pearson.
Louise worked outside of the home briefly on two occasions in her life, but her passion was as a wife and mother for her family. Her gift of hospitality was evident throughout her life in her lovely dinner parties as well as her invitation to host any friend or family who needed a room for the night or longer. She was active in her local church, teaching children’s Sunday School, participating in Women’s Missionary Union and other women’s mission activities.
A Celebration of Life service for Louise is planned at Parkway Place, 1321 Park Bayou, Houston,77077 on November 4th at 11:00 and a Memorial Service at Tallowood Baptist Church on Friday, November 12th at 10:30 a.m. at 555 Tallowood Drive, Houston, 77024. Louise will be interred at Houston National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 10th.
