She was born Louise Jenelle Rollins on the 19th of August 1930, in Corpus Christi, to the late Jennie and Eli Rollins Sr. She was the fifth of six children in her family and grew up in Portland, Texas, in a home on a bluff overlooking Corpus Christi Bay. She graduated from Taft High School. On the 2nd of April 1949, she married William “Dub” T. Rogers Jr. in Corpus Christi.
After starting their family in Corpus Christi, Louise and Dub moved to Houston in 1963. Louise was preceded in death by Dub in 1998. Additionally, Louise was preceded in death by her four brothers, Eli, Truette, Travis, Lonnie and only sister, Gloria Davey. Louise is survived by her children, Gary Rogers and wife Diane, Randy Rogers and wife Robin, Karen Eisa and husband Said. She leaves eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Louise was a remarkable person who gave of herself continuously. From PTA to Den Mother she always stayed active. Later in life, she taught Sunday school, volunteered as church staffer, provided transportation to disabled residents, and housed various out-of-town patients who were receiving treatments at M.D. Anderson Hospital.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Many, thanks to Louise’s caregivers Shameka Dubose and the caregiver team from Sorella Senior Excellence. Many thanks as well to Sheena Stubbers, M.D., for the excellent medical care provided for many years.
