Luisa Mercedes Arocha

She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Bernardino Arocha, her parents, brothers Sergio and Lidio Gil, and sisters Margarita Quesada, Modesta Prieto, Nélida Arocha, and Nora Gil.

She is survived by her son Dr. Bernard Arocha, and wife Mary, daughter Mercedes Arocha Pegg, and husband Leon Pegg. Her cherished grandchildren Alexander Arocha, Lauren Arocha, Christine Pegg and husband James “Opie” Steagall, and great grandson Nolan Steagall. Her sister Olivia Guzman lives in Miami, Florida.

She was a very talented designer, seamstress and entrepreneur. But what Luisa was best known for was her amazing talent in the kitchen. What she loved most was her family and friends. Bringing them together, in her home, for Sunday dinners and holiday meals and celebrations was her ultimate joy.

A visitation for Luisa will be held Sunday, February 27, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077. A funeral service will occur Monday, February 28, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077. A committal service will occur Monday, February 28, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077.
