Lydia Mungia

Lydia Mungia, 67 of South Houston, Texas was born March 26, 1956 in Chapman Ranch, Texas near Corpus Christi to Esteban Mungia Jr. and Maria Garcia Mungia and passed away at her home on August 21, 2023 surrounded by her family.

Lydia enjoyed being with her family and friends, going out to lunch, fishing, getting her nails done, shopping, cooking, singing and dancing; always having a great time. Some of her proudest moments were of her grandkids making her laugh. Her favorite music was the cumbias and she would like to be remembered how fun life was before her illness.

She is survived by her hunny Elisandro Vargas; her doggy Baby; Her children, Javier Alaniz and wife,Julie ; Angelita Alaniz and husband, Eduardo; Orlando Alaniz, Jessica Alaniz, Anthony Gutierrez and wife, Courtney and Oralia Gutierrez; her siblings, Esmeralda Garza, Rosa Maria Segura, Fidel Mungia, Santos Mungia, Lorenzo Mungia, John Mungia; Greg Mungia; along with 23 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and a very large extended family that she loved and loved her.

Lydia is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Robert Mungia, Oscar Mungia,Maria Mungia and Daniel Mungia; her great-grandson, Valentine Luis Hernandez.

Funeral services will be held 10:00am, Friday, September 1, 2023 at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church with visitation being held Thursday at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo from 3:00pm until 9:00pm with a rosary being recited at 6:00pm.
