Monday April 1st, 2019 Maria G. “Malu” Barajas, passed away peacefully in Houston, TX. with all her eight surviving children lovingly attending at her side.
She was born May 26, 1942 in Jalisco, Mexico,
to J. Jesus Ibanez and Juana Chavoya. Married to J. Jesus Barajas in 1956.
Malu, as most close relatives and friends would call her, grew up to become a fulltime housewife with a natural shy personality, and made her life’s mission to raise, educate and love all her children, and at the same time, be the best wife, daughter, in-law, friend, later grandmother, and great-grandmother any person could wish for.
Malu is preceded in passing away by both her parents J. Jesus Ibanez and Juana Chavoya; her husband J. Jesus Barajas; one of her beloved sons, a school teacher, Adalberto Barajas; and two vOery young infants: Maricruz Barajas, and Alvaro Barajas.
After becoming a widow, and evolving from a completely dependent situation, she bravely raised herself up to be a role model for her children, surpassing expectations in all areas of her life and achieving any goals she would set for herself.
She loved her roots in Mexico and would always try to spend as much time there as possible, even if it meant she was by herself there for long time periods. At one time, being a US resident and with fear of losing the privilege of being able to travel back and forth to visit her children, she understood well that becoming a US citizen would give her that freedom, that she studied tenaciously and passed the civics test with zero errors.
Raised with deep religious values, Malu was fearful of God and always eager to read and learn his word. Last year she started her last battle, and even whit all prognosis against her, she fought it with solid faith and the firm conviction that she served a God of miracles and if it pleased him, he could cure her. Unfortunately for us,
her surviving children, God had a different plan and called her home, but not before allowing her to confirm how much she loved all of us indistinctively.
We miss her deeply and will happily carry on her legacy,
and her memory in our hearts for the rest of our lives.
Malu is being cared for by our friends of Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, until next week when we will take her to her place of birth in Jalisco, Mexico for her burial, as it had always been one of her last wishes.
