

We celebrate the life-fulfilled journey of Margaret Helen Daniels. She was born on March 17, 1946 in Eunice, LA to Ernest Sr. and Gracie Fontenot. She received her education in Eunice, LA where she graduated high school as a proud member of the Charles Drew Class of 1963. Her professional career was a prosperous one while working for Allstate Insurance Company for 37 years and then retiring in 2007.
Margaret was reared in a strong Christian family and while graced with her presence, it was quite evident that she loved the Lord. Her spirit was contagious, and no matter the condition she would reciprocate the circumstance saying “God is good.” She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. Dr. Joshua G. Frank at New Zion Baptist Church in Eunice, LA. While spending most of her life in Houston, TX, she was a devoted member of the Galilee Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess and a Sunday School teacher.
Margaret spent a great deal of her life serving her family, cooking meals, and spreading love & joy to all who encountered with her. She married Herbert Daniels on September 21,1989. Together they enjoyed traveling and engaging in endless memories with their grandchildren. She prided herself most for being a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all. She leaves a legacy of faith, family, and love for adventure.
Margaret was blessed with two children, Bridget Claire Ubah and Troy Patrick Fontenot who both preceded her in death.
Margaret was called home on February 11, 2020. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Sr. and Gracie Fontenot, and two brothers, Ernest Fontenot Jr. and Raymond Fontenot Sr.
Margaret leaves to cherish her legacy a loving husband, Herbert Daniels, four grandchildren, Lacy Ranton, Alexis Ubah, Christien Ubah, Faith Fontenot, and Hope Fontenot; one great-grandchild, John Patrick Brooks Jr.; stepchildren; Nina Daniels, Nicole Daniels, Janice Daniels, Herbert Daniels Jr. and Josh Daniels.; step-grandchildren Lunden, Logan, Richard, Mariah, and Joshua Jr. two brothers, Benjamin Fontenot Sr. (Anna) and Christopher Fontenot (LaSondra); four sisters, Cora Ann Jones, Phillis Williams (Louis), Francine Fontenot, and Linda Brown (Kevin); one son-in-law, David Ubah; and one daughter-in-law LaTonia Fontenot; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
