Margaret Louise Groover passed away peacefully on June 7th, 2025, at the age of 91. In her final years, she was a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and caretaker to any lost animal than wandered into her yard. Margaret led a rich and often complicated life that included five children, two husbands, and a rewarding career as an executive with Zapata Petroleum – a Texas based oil company founded by U.S. President George W. Bush.
Margaret found joy in gardening and was an accomplished competitive ballroom dancer. She encouraged everyone around her to pursue their own passions and selflessly supported their efforts. Most of all, she strived to bring kindness into the world around her.
The one constant in her amazing journey was a love for animals, big and small. She shared her life with everything from horses to hamsters, cockatiels and turtles, a monkey (!), a psychotic squirrel, a persnickety rabbit, and countless dogs and cats. If there is a heaven; hers is filled with the animals that brought her such profound happiness.
Margaret is survived by her sons Ken, Michael, and Jim, several grandchildren, and many loving friends.
