Maria Hernandez Gallegos

Maria Gallegos Hernandez, age 94, of San Pedro de las Colonias, Coahuila, Mexico passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 12:05 p.m. Maria was born August 15, 1927 to Eusebia Hernandez and Alonso Gallegos. As an adult she traveled to the United States with her children Maria Antonia Gallegos and Jose Luis Diaz along with her son-in-law, Enrique Martinez, Sr. Maria’s specialty were tamales and enjoyed cooking for her family. Her cooking could not be outdone. Maria spent most of her years caring for grandchildren and great-grandchildren, giving nicknames like “mi gordo”, “mi negrito” and “flaco”. She worshipped her faith at St. Charles Borromeo and Holy Name Catholic Church. She lays resting with The Virgen de Guadalupe. She loved going back home to ciudad Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico and visit family, especially for weddings and quinceañera’s where she would be seen laughing and dancing the night away. She leaves behind generations who will remember and honor her legacy. Her final request to family was not to mourn her death, rather celebrate the life she lived. Maria Gallegos Hernandez has been set free and is now laughing and dancing with the angels in heaven.

Maria was preceded in death by her father Alonso Gallegos and her mother Eusebia Hernandez; her siblings Felix Gallegos, Agustina G. Martinez, Martina Correra and Victoria Gallegos; her great grandchild Clarissa Rene Galindo, and her great great grandchild Alonso Martinez Romo.

Maria is survived by her daughter Maria A. Gallegos, her son Jose L. Diaz, her son-in-law Enrique Martinez; her grandchildren Enrique Martinez Jr., Robert Martinez, Rudy Martinez, Robert Martinez, Melisa Martinez, Sandra Puga, Rudy Martinez, Griselda Martinez; her great grandchildren Arthur Flores, Lainey Flores, Robert Anthony Martinez, Martin Corona, Zavanna Martinez, JJ Romo, Miranda Marie Martinez, Crystal Martinez, Serena Leal, Jonathan Puga, Celeste Martinez, Mark Martinez, Crystal Martinez, and Steven Martinez; her great great grandchildren Roger Martinez Vasquez, Melody Martinez Romo, Isabella Martinez Romo, Caleb Martinez, Jude Martinez, Zoey Flores, Immanuel Martinez, Noah Martinez, D'Angelo Martinez, Max Martinez, Maria Puga, Javier Puga, Christopher Gomez, Emma Martinez, her Isaac Martinez, Jocelyn Martinez, Noel Corona and Cecilia Corona.

A visitation for Maria will be held Saturday, August 6, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel, 5100 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77022, followed by a funeral service from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM.
