Maria Carrizales Herrera, a beloved mother, wife, and grandmother, passed away on December 19, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on August 8, 1933, in the small town of Doctor Arroyo, Mexico, Maria dedicated her life to creating a loving home for her husband of 57 years, Rufino, and their seven children.
Maria’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially during Christmas and birthdays. Being surrounded by her grandchildren, which she happily helped raise, also brought her tremendous joy. Even through the most challenging times when her children were young, she always made sure at Christmas there was a present under the tree for everyone, that every birthday was celebrated with a cake and a gift, and that her grandchildren were showered with love and affection, saying “what I couldn’t give my children, I made up with my grandchildren”.
Coming from a very humble background, Maria instilled in her children strong family values and a strong work ethic. Her family saw her as an example of the sacrifices a mother makes for her children and what can be achieved when you work hard. The wonderful aroma of her home cooked meals, her laughter, and her famous saying…“Que Bonito” (which she used when you were late) will be missed, but her memory and love of family will never be forgotten. “To the world you are a mother, but to your family you are the world.''
She is survived by her husband Rufino, children Sonia, Martha, Norma, Sandra, Claudia, Mario, and Aurelio, eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
