Maria Socorro was a loving mother to 10 children and had over 28 grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to travel to visit her children and their families in New Zealand, Australia and Canada.
Maria Socorro was lovely in heart, mind, and spirit. She showed strength and firmness in her beliefs but never imposed. She was humble, but confident.
Maria Socorro, filled with love and patience, cared for all her children fairly, but responded to each one according to their unique personalities and character. Raising, guiding, advising, protecting, and especially instilling values in ten children was a challenging task. She maintained strictness and firmness while gently helping them navigate life without being controlled. Maria allowed her children to pursue their own paths, always standing by them when they stumbled. As their first teacher in life, the lessons she taught are now being passed down by her children to their own families.
Maria Socorro taught her children and their families to know and love God above all. To believe, rely and to trust God and never to question his will. She was an active member of Mother’s Butler Mission Guilds in Sto Nino Catholic Church in the Philippines which is a global Catholic laywomen’s organization of volunteers dedicated to serving the church.
