Marie S. Stephenson was born in Brookhaven, Mississippi, on the 5th of February 1925, and passed away peacefully at her home in Houston, Texas, on Tuesday, the 23rd of November 2021, surrounded by her family. She was 96 years of age.
She came to Texas with her family in 1932 during the depression and spent the majority of her remaining years in Texas.
She is survived by her son, James F. Stephenson, Jr. and wife, Gloria, of Houston and her daughter, Sally Benedict and husband, Mike, of Bastrop, Texas, along with five grandsons and six great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, James F. Stephenson and her son, Jeffrey M. Stephenson.
Like many women of her generation her life-long focus was being wife, mother, homemaker, and family pillar all of which she accomplished with great success.
The family will gather for a private interment at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston.
