

Marietta Voglis, longtime Houston resident, passed away on Monday, the 4th of December 2023, at the age of 91. She was born on the 7th of May 1932, in New York City, New York to the late Dorothy Thompson and Michael Voglis. Marietta was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral and served as a patron of the Houston Grand Opera, which held a special place in her heart.
Marietta attended Hunter College High School and graduated from Barnard College.
She met her husband Peter Nickles in 1974, and they were married for 34 years.
Marietta was an editor for Bonay Nugent for 16 years, she later was an editor for the Wall Street Brokerage Firm before she retired in 2000, to be with her cousins Anastasia Moss and Marietta Pekmezaris in Texas.
She is proceed in death by her husband Peter Nickles and her parents, Dorothy Thompson and Michael Voglis. She is survived by many cousins throughout the United States.
Friends are cordially invited to gather with the family during a visitation at twelve o’clock noon on Tuesday, the 12th of December 2023, at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 3511 Yoakum Boulevard in Houston, where the funeral service is to commence at half-past twelve o’clock noon with the Cathedral Clergy officiating. Immediately following, all are invited to join the family during a makaria to be held at a venue to be announced during the service.
At a later date, the family will gather for a private interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Maspeth, New York.
