Martha Louise Martin Ray

Martha Louise Martin Ray, 94, of Houston, Texas, passed away on May 25, 2026. She was born June 21, 1931, in Houston, Texas. In 1950 she married Roy Richard Ray, Jr., and they shared 50 beautiful years of marriage. Roy preceded her in death February 4, 2001.

Martha was especially noted for leading handbell choirs at Campbellsville Baptist Church in Campbellsville, KY, and later leading the entire handbell ministry at Hyde Park Baptist Church in Austin. She also sang in choirs throughout most of her life and had a fine soprano voice. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who supported and encouraged her children and grandchildren throughout her life. She loved quilting, sewing, and needlework and enjoyed teaching these skills to friends, as well as internationals. She was a leader, along with Roy, in student ministries in Fort Worth and Austin.

She is survived by her three children, Roy Richard (Rick) Ray, III, Marilyn Ray Jankowski, and Laura Ray Atwood, as well as 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

She loved her Lord and her family for whom she prayed often.

A memorial service will be held on June 5, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the chapel at Parkway Place, 1321 Park Bayou Drive, Houston, TX 77077. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made to Tallowood Baptist Church.
