Marvin D Seber

He is proceeded in death by parents, George L. and Nan Greer Seber; brother, Gerald L. Seber; great grandson Michael Dean Seber. He is survived by his loving wife, Tommie Lou Seber; son, Billy Jack Seber and his wife Carol; daughter, Stacie Sudkamp and her husband John; granddaughter, Suzie Graham and her husband Jim; grandson, Andrew Sudkamp; great grandchildren, Easton Duplichan, Aaron Graham, and Kylee Graham; sister-in-law, Roxie Lee Seber; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and great-great nieces.

A dedicated third generation Houston Police officer, Marvin proudly served the city of Houston for 34 years. During that time, he was honored to serve as Secretary and Treasurer for the Houston Police Federal Credit Union. Marvin graduated from John H. Reagan High School in 1947. Growing up in the Heights during the depression shaped his strong work ethic and willingness to always help those in need. Some of his fondest childhood memories were times spent playing with his cousins at his grandparent’s home during the summer.

Marvin was an antique car collector and enthusiast. He was a past member of the Antique Car Club of Houston and the Model A Club. His pride and joy was his award winning 1927 Crown Victoria touring car. In the late 70’s, Marvin was integral in the formation of The Katy Girls Softball Association and served as a former president and founding member. Marvin spent numerous hours on the softball field as an umpire and “delighted” his daughter in calling strikes from her head to toes. Cross country RV getaways were a favorite past time of Marvin and his wife. Over the years, they enjoyed traveling with their friends from the Holiday Rambler RV Club.

Spending time with his family was important to Marvin. He was a big fan of his grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved being present at their school and sporting events. Marvin was never one to pass up a good “garter” margarita at happy hour or a smooth scotch on the rocks. He enjoyed cooking and could create delicious dishes with left-overs. He was a fan of Big Band music and knew how to “cut a rug.” Marvin’s favorite pearl of wisdom was that “red lipstick would make you feel better,” even if you have the flu. Bringing coffee to his wife every morning was how he began each day. In his later years, Marvin could be found each week on his riding mower on his seven acres in Waller. His priceless, dry humor will be missed at all family occasions, especially at our Christmas white elephant exchanges. He was a big presence in our lives and will be dearly missed.

Funeral services will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, Texas 77079. Visitation from 6 – 8 pm on Thursday, September 19, 2019. Funeral will be held in the chapel at 10:00 am on Friday, September 20, 2019. Reception immediately following.
