Mary “Mitzi” Mitzi Elizabeth Werckle

Mary “Mitzi” E. Ackerman Werckle, 87, died May 17, 2013 in Houston. Born in Austin, Texas on December 24, 1925, Mitzi was the daughter of Louis Ackerman of Switzerland and Maria Ana “Mitzi” Haelmeister Ackerman of Vienna, Austria. Mitzi married Joe Werckle on November 7, 1947. Mitzi later married Richard Harris on August 27, 1994.

Survived by son Joseph L. “Lance” Werckle and wife Janice of Chugiak AK; daughters Linda Werckle of Bellaire, TX, Sharon Fogg and husband Brian of Sarnia, ON, Canada; grandchildren Monica Moore and husband Don Faldyn, Nathan Moore and wife Michelle, Heather Werckle and Ryan, Dominick “D.J.” Werckle, Alicia Fogg and husband Kenneth Siefken, Christina Fogg and husband Mike Lee and Suzanne Fogg and Dale; great grandchildren Taylor and Caleb Moore and Avery Lee; and numerous nieces, nephews & cousins. Brothers Robert Louis Ackerman and wife Yvonne, Johnny Ackerman and wife Shirley, Fred Ackerman and wife Archie.

Predeceased by husband of 44 years Joseph Werckle and husband of 16 years Richard Harris and brother Marcel Ackerman.

Mitzi was a member of Holy Ghost Church for over 60 years. She volunteered at the school cafeteria for many years and she and Joe were often volunteer workers for the Holy Ghost Bazaar. She loved gardening, travel, sports and fishing at the house on Caney Creek in Sargent, Texas.
