

In mid-afternoon on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 God dispatched an angel from Heaven with an invitation for sister Mary Helen Hall that read: “My child you are tired, weary, and worn, and now it is time for you to come home to be with the Lord”.
Mary Helen Hall was born on March 20,1934 in Ratcliff, TX to parents Joseph Walker and Alene Ross.
Mary Helen accepted Christ at an early age. Before re-locating to Acres Homes she was a member of Fourth Missionary Baptist Church where the late Reverend E. Stanley Branch was the pastor.
During the 1970’s, she united with Bright Star Holy Ghost Missionary Baptist Church under the late Pastor C. L., Campbell Sr.
She was faithful and dutiful as the Servant leader of the Usher Board for over 20 years. She also sang in the choir and served in the mission, on the culinary committee, and any place there was a need.
After graduating from Franklin Beauty College, Mary Helen was an entrepreneur who owned and operated a hair salon in the heart of Third Ward Texas, “HELEN HALL’S BEAUTY BOX”.
During her lifetime she served her community by working in the hospitality industry. She loved to cook and was famous for her peach cobbler, greens, and cornbread dressing. Recently she was asked, “What is your favorite thing to do”; she responded “cook”.
Mary Helen departed this life on December 15, 2020 and went home to be with her Savior.
Mary Helen is preceded in death by ex-husband Rudolph Hall, her parents Alene Griffin and Joseph Walker, sister Gwendolyn Lewis, brother Joseph Walker Jr., sister Ruth Walker, and daughter-in-law, Jean.
She leaves to cherish her memories one son, Harold Walker, one daughter, Patricia Hall-Jones (Richard), two sisters Annie and Bernice; ten grandchildren Patrick, Cedric, Shawndra, LaToya, LaQuisha, (Damon grandson-in-law), Harold Jr., Rashad, Allicia, (Dell grandson-in-law), LaShonda and JaMorian, 23 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends
