

Mary Lou Gonzales was greeted by our Lord and Savior on Sunday Morning, May 18,2025 , at the age of 87 yrs. young. A native Houstonian, who could trace her family lineage as Far back to the year 1537 in this region before it was Texas. She was a proud alumni of Texas A&M University. Attending the university when women were first allowed to attend. She was able to achieve her dream of furthering a higher Education, showing her six children that if you want it badly You can achieve it. She stressed the importance of education and how knowledge was the key to success. She began her career as a high school teacher, then making A career change in social work , finally retiring with the
City of Houston health department. However, one of her passions was advocating for civil rights.
Being a community activist, marching during the 60's With her children in tow . She wanted to make a difference. In her community and society as a whole. She was preceded in death by her parents , Mariano and Consuelo Gonzales . . Infant daughter Mary Magdalene Cantu .Sisters , Josephine and Alice . Brothers , Alfred ,Gilbert , Roy ,and Richard Gonzales . Survived by sister Erminia Lobo and sister in-law Rachel Gonzales .Children Mary Lou ( James ) , Rogers ( Mary ) ,Angela ( Larry ) ,Claudia ( Elias) , Anthony , and Charity . God son Alfred Alan Gonzales . 9 Grandchildren & 8 Great Grandchildren.
Pallbearers , Larry Savat , Skye Massei , David Valdivia, Elias Gebrail ,Rogers Cantu , Anthony Cantu , Alex Cantu. Special thank you to mom’s caregiver Kristi Jenkins who cared for our mom with so much love and compassion.
