

She was born the 8th of December 1915, in Dobyville, Arkansas, the daughter of James Roy and Della Mae Wingfield Capps.
She grew up in Gurdon, Arkansas, and graduated from Ouachita Baptist University with a degree in Home Economics. She and her husband Paul spent their early years in El Dorado, Arkansas and Shreveport, Louisiana before moving to Houston in 1962. She leaves a legacy of service to others with her gifts of delicious home-made food and especially desserts. Her talents were also seen in her beautifully home-tailored clothing. She was always willing to teach anyone who wanted to learn to cook or sew. She devoted her life to her family and her church.
Louise was a life-time member (50 years) of Chapelwood United Methodist Church, was a member of the Wedding Band Class and the UMW. During her active years, she devoted much of her time to preparing food for events at Chapelwood and taking meals to elderly friends.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Paul Lamar Mann; her parents; her infant brother, Leighton Reid Capps and her older brother, James Austin Capps. She is survived by her four children, Dr. Paul Michael Mann and his wife Carolyn of Houston, H. Dean Mann and his wife Becky of Ft. Scott, Kansas, Nancy L. Mann Adkins and her husband Jim of Houston, and Robert L. Mann, Houston; and her sister, Alyene Capps Fowler of Fort Scott, Kansas. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren will greatly miss their “Memaw.”
The family gives special thanks to her friends and caregivers at The Hampton at Tanglewood for their love and compassion over the past six and one half years, and to members and staff of Chapelwood United Methodist Church and Second Baptist Church for their kind attention to her.
A memorial celebration of her life is to be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 29th of December, in the chapel of Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 11140 Greenbay Street in Houston, where the Rev. Dr. Scott Endress, Associate Pastor, is to officiate. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception at the church.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in Mrs. Mann’s name be directed to the Benevolent Mission International, 30007 Woodland Hills Drive, Suite 169, Kingwood, TX, 77339-1403 (This organization sponsors medical trips to give eye sight to third-world countries through exams, surgeries and eye glasses. Her grandson, Dr. Paul M. Mann II, serves as president.); or to the Chapelwood Foundation, 11140 Greenbay St., Houston, TX, 77024.
