Matthew Slade Scott, 58, took his last ride on November 30, 2013, in Houston, Texas, doing one of the things he loved the most: riding his beloved Honda Goldwing. Matt was a native Houstonian and most of all a proud Texan. He graduated from McArthur High School in 1973. He spent his entire career working for AT&T and would have celebrated his 40th anniversary with AT&T on Saturday, December 7th.
He was preceded in death by his father, Burford Scott, his niece Brandy Scott and his namesake nephew Matthew James Scott. Matt will live forever in our hearts and will be dearly missed by his wife and best friend, Teresa , mother Bobbi Scott, daughter Kristen and husband Dustin Gressett, and daughter Caitlin Scott, son Travis Tucker, sisters Lois Massey and Pamela Seltzer, brother Jerry Scott and wife Pam, nephews Jerry Scott and wife Amber, and James Scott and wife Charlotte, and niece Danielle and husband Chris Shelton, and grandchildren Kileigh Gaeke-Scott, Kamdyn and Kensington Gressett, and running buddies Mike Bristow, David Dahl, Lee Weston, Steve Ross, Mike O’Connor, Bob Haase, and “The AT&T Crew.”
Matt lived life large and enjoyed every day to the fullest. He loved his family, his Goldwing, and his dogs. Family was important to Matt, and he never missed the opportunity to spend time with them. He lived for the chance to take the next ride on his motorcycle and spent endless hours washing and polishing it. He loved his dogs and even FaceTimed with them when he was out of town to make sure they didn’t forget who the “Beast Master” was. In addition, he loved his yearly vacation to Mexico. He loved the sparkling turquoise water and beach and spending the special time there with his wife.
