Maureen was born in Cameron, Texas, and remained a life long Texan, mostly in Houston.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Dan Clayton McMillan, married May 1948. Her youngest son, David Scott McMillan, who died in 1999. Her brother, James W. Riley.
She is survived by her beloved son, Dan McMillan Jr., and special daughter-in-law, Debbie of Conroe, Texas. Her four grandchildren, David Scott McMillan Jr. and wife Melissa of Houston, Lara Ann Coursey of Houston, Wesley McMillan and wife Georgia of the Woodlands, Texas. Amy Risseeuw and husband Isaac of Conroe, Texas. Great-granddaughters Delanee McMillan and Lacey Risseeuw. Nieces, nephews, uncles, and cousins.
Her many cherished friends, business associates and customers appreciated her generous and gracious qualities. Maureen had successfully operated the family business since the death of her husband, Dan, and managed several real estate properties with storage facilities. She looked forward to going to her office daily and interacting with customers and personnel. She was very active in participating in political organizations, and multiple charities such as SPCA, Memorial Hermann Heights Hospital, nursing homes and Alley Theater. She shared many happy years playing bridge with friends, sports activities, golf, traveling and in later years, bird and squirrel watching in her own backyard.
The primary center of her life and most rewarding, was her family and friends. Helping to make their lives a little easier with their needs and wishes gave her the greatest joy. Her cheerful and positive attitude will be missed by everyone whose lives she touched.
Maureen was known as a genuine “people pleaser” and had the gift of making everyone feel special. Her goal was to “create a smile a day.”
The family would like to express sincere appreciation for a few special friends…Mark Stubbs, Don Willson, Glen Hampson, and Rosario Lopez.
Their generous, loyal attention made her final years at her home much easier and comfortable.
To the many other helpful friends, thank you for always being available when needed. You added many happy days to her daily life.
To the people at the final “home” Elmcroft of Rivershire Assisted Living in Conroe, Texas, thank you for taking so good and loving care of Mrs Maureen. Special thanks to David McMillan for making the last 2 years of her life easier and to David Salerno for his endless patience and many visits to Elmcroft.
