Maxene Hudson

Maxene graduated from Cashing Texas, and later met William Hudson in Houston, Texas. They married on December 20, 1955.

She held a career as an office manager at Antex Roofing for 59 years. She was a member of the Methodist Church. She loved reading her Bible and Chicken Soup for the Soul Books, it was hard to find one that she didn’t own. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and re-watching John Wayne movies over and over again. Above all her favorite thing was to walk on the beach and collect seashells.

She always had a great sense of humor, and had very thick wavy hair, one day her grandson said, “Maw, Maw you have fat hair!” He was very young at the time. Maxene smoothed down her hair and said, “I guess I do Bryan!” We all thought it was very funny.

She loved her grandchildren with all her heart; never missing out on watching her children’s or grandchildren’s sports events. She had a deep love for family and enjoyed all family gatherings. When her grandkids were little and stayed over she would lay out a foam mattress on the floor. Telling stories such as, Hansel and Gretel, and Goldilocks and the 3 bears, she would eventually fall asleep with them.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Hudson; parents, Chester Dee Skinner and Verdie Lee Champion; sons, Samuel Hudson and Jon Hudson; grandson, Bryan Walls; great grandson, Everett Hudson; sister, Tillie White; brothers, Buddy Skinner and Tommy Skinner.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Jo Milstead and her family, Mandi and Josh Taylor, Brittani and Mikel Giles and their daughter Tulip, Tristan and Skylar Pruitt and their daughter Amelia, Kyndel Moore, Mia Taylor, and Joshua Taylor, Jade Milstead and her family, Peyton Ivy and Clint Case, Jarrod and Emma Milstead, Kyle Milstead and his sons, Samuel and William; daughter, Mary and Tom Walls and their son Austen Walls and grandson Christopher Walls, daughters Leslie Sutton and her son Jackson, daughter, Shelley Walls and her sons Jaylen and Ethan Birks.; son, Lester and Venita Hudson and their family Heath and Kayla Hudson and their children Katherine and Archer, Reid and Amber Hudson and their son Weston; daughter, Peggy Moore and her family Courtney Moore and Bobby McKay; sisters, Hazle Sorters, and Patricia Moore; sister-in-law, Barbara Skinner and Laverne Skinner and Numerous nieces, nephews and countless friends.

Serving as pallbearers are, Jarrod Milstead, Kyle Milstead, Heath Hudson, Reid Hudson, Austen Walls, and Donny Moore.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are, her great grandson, Tristan who is in Japan and her numerous nephews.

A visitation for Maxene will be held Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A funeral service will occur Friday, March 22, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A committal service will occur Friday, March 22, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Fields Store Cemetery, FM 1488, Waller, Texas 77484.
