Melissa Clifton-Kilpatrick, 53, of Houston Texas entered into rest on December 23, 2018. She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on August 6, 1965 to parents Glenn and Cathy Clifton. In 1988, Melissa received a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Melissa had a love for helping others in need and she found fulfillment in her 30 year career in nursing. In August 2005, she worked for Texas Oncology where she continued her passion to aid others.
Melissa was with her loving husband Rick Kilpatrick for 15 years. Rick brought so much happiness and laughter into Melissa’s life, he had a way of making her break out of her shell. They enjoyed going to football and baseball games, as well as traveling to Colorado, Las Vegas, Cancun, Lake Tahoe, New Orleans and many other cities.
Melissa had a passion for traveling and new adventures. She also enjoyed fast sports such as skiing, boating, jet skiing, driving sports cars, and horseback riding. Melissa survived cancer for 12 years and never lost hope to continue to enjoy her life with her family and friends. She was looking forward to beating cancer once again so she could one day travel to Australia and Bora Bora.
She is survived by her husband Rick Kilpatrick, son Bobby Thormer and his girlfriend Brieanna Johnson, father Glenn Clifton, brother Randy Clifton, sister Annette Clifton, her adored dog Kaci, cat Stewie, many beautiful nieces and nephews, and numerous other family members, friends, and colleagues. Melissa is preceded in death by her mother Cathy Clifton, brother Carson Clifton, and father-in-law Jack Kilpatrick Sr.
Melissa will be remembered for her brave fight against cancer, her radiant smile and her sense of humor. She will be greatly missed.
A celebration of Melissa’s life will take place Saturday, December 29, 2018 beginning at 2:00pm at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038. A reception will take place following the memorial service.
