

Micaela “Charo” Cubelo Ramirez dedicated wife, mother of 3, grandmother of 6, great grandmother of 5, and friend to many passed away at the age of 90 on October 29, 2022 in Houston, Texas.
Micaela was born to Ramon Cubelo and Maria Fernandez Cubelo in Holguin, Cuba on June 3, 1932. She was the youngest of 15 brothers and sisters but only 11 siblings survived. She met her husband, Abel Ramirez, of 57 years in 1949 and married in 1953. She and her family immigrated and settled in Miami, Florida in 1962, to escape Communism. They were blessed with 3 children: Maria del Carmen born in 1956, Abel Jose in 1958 and Maribel in 1964. In 1965, they moved to Waco, Texas for a few months and finally settled and made a home in Houston, Texas.
Charo, as everyone called her, loved her family. She was always so proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She recently found out that she was going to have another great grandson. She loved to tell everyone that she helped raise all of her grandchildren.
Charo loved her many friends and always welcomed them to her home with a “cafecito Cubano”. She was strong and independent and insisted on doing things for herself even during her illness.
Charo valiantly battled cancer (Melanoma) until she succumbed due to the treatment of the disease.
Charo lived her life with faith, hope, and love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. That blessed hope kept her focused on eternity with our Lord.
Charo is predeceased by her husband, Abel Ramirez, her parents and her brothers and sisters.
Charo is survived by her children: Maria del Carmen Henkel (Dan) of Magnolia, Texas, Abel Jose Ramirez (Natty) of Sugar Land, Texas, and Maribel Anderson (Charlie) of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. Also by her 6 grandchildren: Marisol Segovia (Jose), Kristina Holan (Paul), Karol Rivera (Danny), Andrew Henkel (Courtney), Heather Walker (Austen), and Haley Anderson (Tyler). She was also survived by 5 great grandchildren: Logan, Mateo, Weslynn, Wade, Ariana, and a 6th on the way; Also by her sister -in- law Maria del Carmen Gomez.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 8th, 2022 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 6921 Chetwood Dr. Houston, Texas 77081. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 pm at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery,12800 Westheimer Rd. Houston, Texas.
