Michael Charles Kreinsen, age 65, of Houston, Texas passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021. Michael was born September 17, 1955 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. He was born to Charles & Rosemary Kreinsen.
Michael grew up in Bohemia, New York; a small town on Eastern Long Island with his 2 brothers and a sister. He attended Cornell University where he earned a Masters in Civil Engineering in 1978. Upon graduation, he moved to Houston to pursue a career in the oil and gas industry. The majority of his career, twenty-five plus years, was spent in service with Paragon Engineering. Michael's work sent him to projects around the world, but Houston would always hold his heart as it is the place that he met his wife Gail and raised his daughter Colleen.
Michael was an avid sports fan, always cheering on his favorite childhood and hometown teams from the Red Sox and New England Patriots to being a twenty year season ticket holder to the Houston Texans. Michael practiced his faith early on as an altar server at St. John Nepomuucene Catholic Church in Bohemia, and in Houston becoming a member of St. Justin Martyr and later St. John Vianney Catholic Church. He also held a strong belief in serving his community; Michael served the Alief community by working as a member of the Alief Super Neighborhood Association, the Alief Community Association where he spent many Saturdays planting trees on Bellaire, restoring the Alief Cemetery and advocating for the new Alief Community Center. Additionally Michael served the Alief School District by working on the Bond Steering Committees over the years and would also volunteer in the Alief ISD schools as a math tutor for students, participating on campus Share Decision Making committees and serving on Athletic parent committees such as President for the Hastings Bear Backers.
Michael is preceded into heaven by his parents Charles and Rosemary; and his brother David; and his favorite dog friend Don Bosco.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years Gail; his daughter Colleen and son-in law Bryan; his beloved grandchildren Rhett and Rory. He is also survived by his brother Kevin and his partner Vicki; his sister Elizabeth and her husband Chris and sons Christopher, Ethan and Nicholas; his sister-in law Nancy and her daughter and Michael's god child Michelle; and his Uncle John McDonough, his cousins in the Kreinsen family of Massachusetts and New York and his cousins in the Sherry family of New York; and his extended family friends here in Houston.
In continuation with Michael’s love of serving the community and schools the family would like give a scholarship to a Alief Hastings graduate of 2021; his family ask that if you are so moved please consider making a donation for the scholarship on behalf of Michael Kreinsen.
