He was 70 years old. Born on January 9, 1954, in Houston, Texas, Mike was a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend. He was preceded in death by his mother, Reba Mae Manning, and his father, Luis E. Marchant Jr.
Mike is survived by his devoted wife, Deanna, of 34 years; his cherished children, his oldest son Josh, his youngest son Chance and his soon to be daughter in-law Ashlynn; his loving sister, Denise, her husband, Pete; and his daughter in-love April; along with numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family. He will be fondly remembered for the many lives he touched and the cherished memories he created.
Mike had a fulfilling career at Huntsman, where he worked for over 34 years. His colleagues remember him for his dedication, his lunchtime naps, and the joy he brought to the workplace. He had a unique way of brightening everyone's day, often greeting them with his usual, saying his day was "just peachy" and that he was "living the dream."
Outside of work, Mike had a passion for gardening and spent many happy hours tending to his numerous herbs and flowers while wearing his favorite Colombia shirt and a parade of different baseball caps. He loved sharing boundless laughter with his family and friends while surrounded by good food and was an avid fan of Houston and all of their sports teams.
Mike loved Jesus. He was a gentle man who believed in the strength found in vulnerability, showing his boys that strong men do cry. He demonstrated his dedication to his family by supporting their passions and dreams, driving them to countless practices and rehearsals, cooking fabulous meals, praying for them, and surrounding them with love every step of the way. Mike played a mean game of golf and was feared by every backyard washer and cornhole player in the great state of Texas.
Mike will always be remembered for his quiet strength and positive outlook on life. His warmth, kindness, and infectious laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of humor, gentleness, and love, all wrapped in a servant’s heart, will continue to inspire his family and all who were blessed to know him.
A Celebration of Life service in honor of Mike will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at St. Timothy Lutheran Church ,14225 Hargrave Road, Houston, TX 77070.
