

Michael Reed Wiles, 70, of Lolita, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025.
Michael was born on October 27, 1954, in Niles, Michigan, to Mahlon Wiles and Rose Marie Thompson Wiles. He graduated high school in 1973 and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1975 to 1982. Enlisting in Harrisburg, Virginia, Michael’s service took him to the Philippines, where he dedicated himself to duty with honor.
After his military service, Michael relocated to Port Lavaca, Texas, to be closer to his parents following their retirement. He worked for Shoalwater Boats and in various carpentry roles before spending 15 years in maintenance at the Royale Inn. In 2011, Michael experienced a stroke that left him wheelchair bound, yet he faced life’s challenges with courage and perseverance.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Theresa Wiles Thompson; and his mother-in-law, Adele Sutton. He is survived by his loving partner of 22 years, Mary Bush; his stepson, Samuel Keith Bush, and wife Kimberly; his cherished grandchildren, Tyler Chesser (Tristen), Kade and Kinley Bush; and great granddaughter Whitley Chesser. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Rick Thompson, and niece, Carisa Thompson; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Andy and Gail Wolfskill; as well as extended family and many friends who will miss his steady presence and kind spirit.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made Michael’s life comfortable in his final weeks, with a special thank you to Morgan from Heart to Heart for giving him his last haircut.
A memorial service will be held on October 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., followed immediately by a reception at Brookside Funeral Home–Cypress Creek, 9149 Highway 6 N, Houston, TX 77095.
Michael will be remembered for his service, his dedication to family, and the quiet strength with which he lived his life.
