Mildred Sorsby Swearingen (Nubbin) went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, November 28, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Mildred was born in Houston, Texas, January 6, 1936 to Edgar and Ruby Sorsby.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael L. Swearingen; granddaughter, Emily S. Jayroe; son-in-law, John Cugini; siblings, Edgar Griffin (Sonny), Jimmy Nathan (Jim), Katie Jo Campbell, Florence Joyce Edwards (Joyce), Milton Clayton (Buddy), Marion Ray (Sister), Shirley Ann Russ (Peanut), and Mary Veronica (Little Mary).
Mildred is survived by her loving husband, Wilbur Swearingen (Pete); son, Wilbur Swearingen, Jr. (Chris); daughter, Patricia Cugini; granddaughter, Sabrina Vaughn (David); great-grandchildren, Ethan Lewis and Camilla Vaughn; bonus great-grandchildren, Brittany Findley and Cody Lewis; bonus great great-grandchildren, Sydney Findley, Berlynn Findley, and Griffon Lewis.
Mildred loved fishing, quilting, and visiting with friends. However, her passion was caring for her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, grandmother and friend. Mildred’s loving and kind nature was always a shining light to anyone who ever had the privilege of meeting her and knowing her. She was a remarkable woman who brought so much happiness and joy to the world and will be sorely missed by all.
