Mineda Mae Buland, 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 27, 2025 in Houston, Texas. We celebrate her life and know that she is now in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Mineda, (Mickey), as most of us knew her, was born in Hominy, Oklahoma to Clyde and Hazel Phillips(Thompson). She graduated from Rogers High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1956. Later that year she married Rudy Buland. She spent her early married years as a homemaker delighting in raising her two daughters. She was always “that mom” that was always volunteering for everything that her daughters were involved in. She loved sewing elaborate costumes for Halloween as well as multitudes of cheerleading uniforms and the latest clothing. She was also a very talented artist. She loved working with pastels, pencils, and oils when she could find the time. After raising her family she spent many years in the retail clothing business. She loved putting fashionable clothing outfits together for her numerous clients.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Tommy Phillips, and a daughter, Laurie Jean Buland. She is survived by her husband, Rudy Buland, of Clear Lake City, TX, her daughter, Mindy Pearson, husband Jesse, of Houston, TX. Two granddaughters, Stacie Hohmannn, husband Garrett of Houston, TX, and Chelsie Pettus, husband Trent, of Bellville, TX. And four great grand children, Maddox and Quinn Hohmann and Mary and Eli Pettus. Also a plethora of friends and acquaintances that absolutely loved her. We would like to say Many Thanks to the Staff and the numerous Caregivers at The Forum at Memorial Woods Independent and Assisted Living facilities that helped make her last several years very happy and healthy.
A small gathering to celebrate her life for family and friends will take place at a later date.
