Miriam Louise Arnette Van Vleck, age 79, entered into rest on January 7, 2020 in Onalaska, TX. She was born to the late William “Bill” and Edith Arnette on October 28, 1940 in Shreveport, LA. She was preceded in death by both her parents and by her brothers, Junior & Alvin Arnette.
She was known as Louise, or "Sis,” to those who loved her. In 1958, she was the class valedictorian of Aldine High School, where she was also drum major of the marching band and played the saxophone. Louise Lead a fulfilling career as a highly respected legal secretary that presented her with many opportunities to excel in her field. She was dedicated and greatly valued by the talented legal professionals she worked for and around.
She loved family, cooking, reading and music, especially the saxophone as it brought her harmony in the woods of East Texas, where she loved to be and to which she retired in 2006. She remained active in community and political circles through the lifelong relationships she cherished and nurtured.
She leaves behind many who loved and esteemed her. Her memory will be cherished by her three sons , Hugh Spinks, his partner, Carol Colby, Kirk Spinks and wife Paula Spinks, Dean Bay and wife Lisa Bay; grandchildren; Leslie, Junior, Kelton, Colton and Cameron along with 8 great grandchildren and many other extended family members in Texas and Georgia.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 12, 2020 from 2:00-5:00 pm at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. The Funeral Service will be held Monday, January 13, 2020 at 10:00 am at Brookside Funeral Home. The Committal Service will follow in Brookside Memorial Park.
