

Nancy Elizabeth was raised in Beaumont, the daughter of Betty and Madison Wright. She graduated from St. Stephen’s Episcopal School in Austin, Magna Cum Laude from Southern Methodist University, and attended graduate school at Rice University. Nancy married and lived in Houston where she and her husband raised their family. She was divorced and began a successful real estate career in 1983.
Nancy and George Garfield were married in 1987. They lived happily between Houston and New York City until George’s Alzheimer’s changed all their plans. Nancy was a lifelong Episcopalian, always active in her church and in charitable community endeavors. She chaired the Theta Charity Antiques Show, the Phi Beta Kappa Scholarship Program, co-chaired an Amazing Place fundraiser as well as a CCSC fundraiser. She served on the Boards of the Junior League of Houston and Mental Health America of Greater Houston. Nancy Elizabeth received the Marilyn Sage award from Greenwood King Properties and the Spirit of Courage award from the Nancy Owens Foundation.
Nancy Elizabeth will be remembered as a faithful church member, a volunteer for charitable causes, an outstanding realtor, but most of all as a loving Mother and cheerful friend.
Friends are cordially invited to gather with the family and share remembrances during a reception from five o’clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening on Sunday, the 22nd of December, in the grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
A memorial service is to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Monday, the 23rd of December, at St. Martins Episcopal Church, 717 Sage Road in Houston.
Immediately following, the family is to gather for a private inurnment at Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family kindly requests memorial contributions be directed to a charity of one’s choice.
