Nelda Joyce Hejl, age 89, of Montgomery, Texas passed into eternal rest on Friday, December 25, 2020. She was born January 31, 1931 in Waco, Texas, the oldest daughter to parents John and Odelia Howze . Nelda married Joseph "Jerry" Hejl in 1950 and they were together for 63 years. She was active in the Honea Baptist Church. Popeye's Chicken was her passion.
Nelda was preceded in death by her husband Joseph "Jerry" Hejl, son Randy Hejl, sister Jean Ready and brother Burl Howze. Left to cherish her memory are daughter Judy Yoakum, sons Joseph Hejl, Jr., Donald Hejl and his wife Judy, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother Truman Howze and his wife Liz, sisters Linda Overbay, Dolores Lahman, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to granddaughter Linda Joyce Hejl for taking good care of Nelda for eight years.
Services for Nelda Hejl will be held at Brookside Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. All services will be Tuesday, January 5, 2021. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The funeral will start promptly at 2:30 p.m. with the interment following in Brookside Memorial Park at 3:30 p.m.
