Olga Aixala Antonetti, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of her community, passed away on August 19, 2025, at the age of 102. Born on May 19, 1923, in Cuba, Olga moved with her husband and daughters to America in 1959 to escape the communist dictatorship. Her life was a testament to resilience and love as she prioritized her daughters' safety and future amidst the challenging transition between countries and cultures.
Olga was known for her gregarious nature, inimitable laugh, and deep love for her extended family. Over the next 65 years, she became a beacon of joy and friendship, making everyone she met smile and feel welcome. She was endlessly devoted and hopelessly in love with her husband, Carlos C. Antonetti, whom she married in 1946. Their marriage, which lasted until Carlos's passing in 2014, was marked by an unwavering connection that spanned countries, decades, tragedies, and triumphs. Together, they curated a large, loving family and a network of lifelong friends.
A devout Catholic, Olga deeply admired Santa Teresita del Nino Jesus. She found joy in entertaining and was happiest when surrounded by her friends and family. Her vibrant sense of style, enormous smile, and unyielding generosity were hallmarks of her personality, leaving an indelible legacy on all who knew her.
Olga was preceded in death by her parents, Natalia Suarez Aixala and Jose Aixala; her sister, Sylvia Toricella; her husband, Carlos C. Antonetti; and her daughter, Natalie Antonetti. She is survived by her daughters, Olga Antonetti Aixala, Maria Gibson, and Christina Rudolphy (Chuck Rudolphy); her grandchildren, John Charles Goudie, Emily Antonetti, Jennifer Rudolphy (Ryan Gallagher), Eric Rudolphy (Tessa Rudolphy), Christopher Gibson (Wesley Gibson), Amy Crugnale (Brian Crugnale), and Megan Antonetti (Adam Schwitters); and her great-grandchildren, Elena Crugnale, Crisanta Crugnale, Samuel Crugnale, Carlos Gibson, Lucy Gibson, Wyatt Gibson, Max Schwitters, David Schwitters, and Jack Gallagher.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The First Congregational Church of Houston, located at 10840 Beinhorn Rd, Houston, TX 77024, on August 28, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Her family and friends will gather to honor her remarkable life and the profound impact she had on those around her.
