Ora Nell grew up as the youngest of five children and was the last surviving child of Emma and Edward Boessling. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alfons, and sisters: Irene and Esther and brothers: Edwin and Louis. Growing up she was lovingly called “Sister” by her family. She is survived by her daughter: Barbara Windish, sons: Chris (Shari) and Paul (Cindy) and grandchildren: Amanda & Ethan, Hayley & Taylor and Kirk & Margeaux.
Ora Nell was a loving wife and caregiver to her husband until his death in 2016. The family appreciates and is full of gratitude for her dedication and love towards her family. She stayed very busy taking care of others. She loved cooking, canning produce from Dad’s garden, baking and decorating cakes, and caring for her cats and the wild neighborhood birds. She also learned to craft beautiful necklaces and rosaries, stained glass and took a class on calligraphy. All of these talents she shared with others, making cakes for special occasions, especially for her grandchildren’s birthdays, friends and church functions. We believe her talents were immeasurable. She faithfully attended daily Mass at St. Ambrose Catholic Church and, for many years, served as the president of the church’s Golden Youth club. Her children continue to learn about Mom through her poetry and journals. In her journals she shares her experiences as nurse, teacher, taxi driver and playmate for her children. Mom and Dad thoroughly enjoyed traveling together especially to experience Branson, Missouri and to Lake Charles for the gambling. Even though Mom never flew on an airplane we consider her to be well traveled putting many miles on one of the Buicks she and dad owned. Many family trips were made with the kids riding in the backseat in one of those cars.
She thanked God every day for Alfons whom she considered a great husband and father and her three exceptional children. Ora Nell wrote, “Death, for me, is not an enemy”. She would ask her family, who have gone before her to keep a place for her. From her poem entitled “We Never Walk Alone” she proclaims her faith and love of God. What more can we ask of our Saviour than to know He is ever at our side? If we pray in His name for our needs, He will be our companion and guide.
The family believes she has earned her eternal rest. We are all thankful to have known her as a loving wife and mom as well as a faithful friend to those whom she met. Her children consider our time of service to mom during her time of need these past five years as a blessed privilege.
The family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude to mom’s wonderful neighbors who were dear friends who offered love and support, and to the many church friends and clergy of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Sr. Charlene, faithful caregiver Marina S., and the dedicated staff at Grace Care Center/Brighton.
