Born on August 17, 1947, in Navasota, Texas, to Hilda Boehm Becker and Oscar Henry Becker, Sr., OB grew up with a strong sense of responsibility, integrity, and dedication—values that guided him throughout his life.
He attended Navasota High School and Sam Houston State University before being drafted into the United States Army in 1967. Deployed to Quy Nhơn, Vietnam, he served with honor during the Tet Offensive of 1968, earning the Army Commendation Medal and the Marksmanship Medal. Upon his return, OB and Betty married. He was a deeply devoted husband and father, proudly sitting front row at dance recitals, cheering from the stands at games, and serving as “Coach Becker” on the basketball court and baseball field. He led with love, encouragement, and presence—his legacy of devotion living on in the lives of those he cherished most.
Throughout his distinguished career, OB brought excellence and leadership to every role he held. His professional journey included positions at Star Engraving, Swede International Litton, Nixdorf Computer AG, and Telenet, where he was recognized as an Outstanding Account Executive. He later achieved membership in the Sprint President’s Club President 100 and the AT&T Gold Club, honors reserved for the top performers in their fields.
In retirement, OB embraced a life close to the land, working cattle on the family’s cherished ranch in Chappell Hill. The ranch was not just a place of work but a source of joy, peace, and pride— his days there reflecting his steady spirit and love of the country.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hilda and Oscar Sr.; his brother-in-law, Frank Duchmasclo; and his nephew, Michael Duchmasclo.
OB is survived by his dedicated wife, Betty Cegielski Becker; daughter, Misti Becker Halastaras, her husband, Jimmy, and their children, Zoi, Evan, and Oscar; son, Josh Becker, his wife, Jenny, and their children, Reese and Noah; sister, Frances Becker Duchmasclo; and nephew, Scott Duchmasclo.
OB will be remembered as a devoted family man, a decorated veteran, a consummate professional, and a steward of the land. His quiet strength, generous spirit, and unwavering dedication to those he loved will remain a guiding light for all who knew him.
