Pauline Paulin, 85, passed away unexpectedly on November 4, 2020 in Rosenberg, TX. She is survived by her sisters Janie Alvarado, Ruth Sanchez, Margaret Prieto, and Gloria Salazar; brother Jesse Miranda; daughter Bertha “Birdie” Rodriguez; grandchildren Robert Rodriguez and his wife Faith, and Bianca Rodriguez; great-grandchildren Izzy, Emily, and Lilly; many beloved cousins, neighbors, friends, and her beloved Grand cat “Charlie”.
Born on September 17, 1935 in Waelder, TX, one of twelve children, Pauline dedicated her life to her family and her community. Daughter of a migrant farm worker, she spent much of her childhood traveling across the country working in fields and orchards to help support her family, where she learned the value of hard work, and importance of sacrifice and generosity. She developed an early passion for music and singing mariachis with her father.
Pauline raised her family in Northeast Houston. She worked for Western Electronics for 17 years, and later built a career with the Harris County Department of Education, where she retired in 1997.
Led by her faith, Pauline prioritized giving, organizing clothing drives for an annual trip to South Texas, on her pilgrimage to the Basilica of San Juan, and always found creative ways to give of her often limited means.
Most significantly, Pauline was a treasured friend. She never met a stranger, and her legacy is in the countless lives that she touched. She will be greatly missed.
